Michael Gowl founded the LF Foundation as an extension of a long-held belief that capital carries both opportunity and responsibility. Drawing on more than two decades of experience as an entrepreneur, business leader, and investor, Michael brings to philanthropy the same patience, discipline, and long-term perspective that have guided his professional career.
Michael has a particular interest in supporting young people and expanding the experiences, opportunities, and support that help them develop into confident, capable, and resilient adults. This commitment to youth development is reflected throughout much of the Foundation's work, including its support of education, athletics, health and well-being, and access to meaningful life experiences.
Under his leadership, the Foundation seeks to build lasting relationships with organizations doing meaningful work, providing resources thoughtfully and with purpose rather than pursuing recognition. Michael believes the greatest impact often comes not from being the most visible partner, but from being a consistent, thoughtful, and committed one.

Michael spent more than a decade helping lead Patuxent Roofing & Contracting, ultimately serving as Chief Executive Officer. His tenure as an operator shaped an investment philosophy grounded in discipline, long-term thinking, and an appreciation for the people behind successful businesses.

Following his transition from day-to-day operating leadership, Michael established Legacy Ventura Group, a private family office through which he oversees investments, business interests, and strategic initiatives — reflecting the same principles that guided his career as an entrepreneur.
